Australian company chooses Baden-Württemberg as European location for quantum computing

The Australian start-up Quantum Brilliance opened its first location in Europe in Stuttgart at the end of 2020.

The decisive criterion in the choice for a location was Baden-Württemberg's high level of expertise in this new forward-looking technology coupled with its attractive high-tech industrial landscape. "We chose Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg because of the excellent conditions for startups in quantum technology, and because we can find the world's best talents and partners for the development and commercialization of our technology here. We look forward to contributing to the development of the quantum computing industry in Germany over the next few years," said Dr. Andrew Horseley, CEO of Quantum Brilliance.

Quantum Brilliance is developing a special microprocessor for quantum computers that operates at room temperature and does not need to be cooled with any great effort. Complex infrastructure requirements are thus eliminated; use is no longer limited to niche applications, but is open to all areas of application. Thus, this new technology from Quantum Brilliance has a good chance of becoming a game changer for quantum computing.

From the very beginning, the settlement of the quantum computing specialist in the German Southwest was accompanied by the state agency Baden-Württemberg International (bw-i), which assists investors at every step of their investment project - from general information about the location and legal aspects, the identification of partners in business and science to the search for a location and support with administrative procedures.
