In the manufacturing sector (including construction), employment increased by 39,800 to 1.96 million people in 2018 (+2.1 percent). In absolute terms, employment in the service sector increased most. In 2018, the number of jobs rose by 48,900 in this area (+1.2 percent compared to 2017). Thus, more than 4.3 million people were employed in the service sector in Baden-Württemberg in 2018. Particularly high growth rates were achieved in the areas of "Transport and Warehousing" with an increase of 3.1 percent, but also in the "Information and Communication" area with a plus of 2.7 percent.
