Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for IT and Data Processing (IITB) in Karlsruhe have developed an innovative WebCam module on behalf of the company Mettler-Toledo for self-service scales. The innovation lies particularly in the fact that the scales are able to recognise which fruit or vegetables have been placed on them and display only the choice of icons which are relevant for the customer. The customer then has only to confirm the variety which matches via the touchscreen.
