High employee potential for the medical technology sector due to excellent higher education network. d

• The excellent higher education network in Baden-Württemberg, in particular the universities which specialise in medical technology in Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart and Freiburg ensure a highly- qualified potential workforce and a high intensity of research in the area of medical technology.

• At the nine universities and 23 higher education establishments in the state, approximately one third of all students follow courses in disciplines related to medical technology. This places Baden- Württemberg above the average for Germany as a whole.

• Around 17% of graduates in disciplines related to medical technology graduate from higher education establishments in Baden-Württemberg.

• Courses of study in medical technology, biotechnology and life sciences are offered at a total of 13 higher education establishments with 47 institutes/centres in the state of Baden- Württemberg.
