Baden-Württemberg’s mechanical engineering companies belong to extensive international networks and their products are used worldwide.

• The quality of “made in Baden-Württemberg” products is also confirmed by a high level of exports. Indeed, nearly every fifth machine bought internationally comes from Germany, and most come from Baden-Württemberg.

• Baden-Württemberg‟s mechanical engineering sector generates more than 35 billion Euros outside of Germany. More than 62% of the products are exported.

• With a value of more than 3,7 billion Euros, the US is the largest market for Baden-Württemberg mechanical engineering companies. Around 10% of exports go to the USA

• However, more than half, namely around 51%, of exports remain within the EU-27. The four member states France, Italy, Austria and Spain alone account for around a quarter of the exports from Baden-Württemberg.

• Besides the USA und European countries, markets in the Far East, above all the Chinese market, also play an increasingly important role for south-western mechanical engineering companies.

• The EU states are the greatest importers of products from Baden-Württemberg mechanical engineering companies, above all the German neighbours Switzerland, Italy and France.
