The state of Baden-Württemberg can draw upon many internationally renown research and development facilities of in the various disciplines of control engineering.

The core regions in the area of research and development are Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Ulm and Freiburg.

The south-west of Germany has exceptionally high levels of research activity, in particular in the universities. All universities in the state use control engineering in their scientific work. 146 specialist departments, centres and institutes carry out research and development work for the multiple applications of control engineering, for instance in the area of environmental technology, the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, medical technology or biotechnology. Baden-Württemberg’s specialist higher education establishments are also increasingly engaged in the area of research and further development in control engineering.
