Plastics are mostly based on oil. A bio-plastic which is 100% made of sustainable raw materials protects this finite resource . Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) in Pfinztal and the company formed by the Fraunhofer foundation TECNARO GmbH have optimised this plastic to such effect that it is even suitable for products aimed at children. A bio-plastic (ARBOFORM®), has been developed which is made of 100% sustainable raw materials and is therefore independent of oil.
