Those who network are more successful
Baden-Württemberg’s chemicals networks strengthen the innovative capacity and international competitiveness of the companies

Active co-operation projects across companies and institutions within the chemical industry stimulate innovation, create synergies and new market potential for enterprises based here.

  • In Baden-Württemberg, four strong chemical regions have developed. The Mannheim/Karlsruhe region (approx. 143 companies), the Freiburg/Hochrhein region (approx. 72 companies), the greater Stuttgart area (approx. 105 companies) and the Ulm/Biberach region (approx. 20 companies) are the major regions for the chemicals sector in Baden-Württemberg.

  • One factor, amongst others, in the success of these regions and the mainly medium-sized companies which are located here is an above-average level of co-operation. In Baden-Württemberg there are multiple co-operative ventures between businesses, as well as intensive and sustainable co-operation projects between companies and local research establishments.

  • Along with the networks which are relevant to the chemical industry, Baden-Württemberg offers industrial parks which provide companies from the chemical sector with excellent business conditions: the industrial parks in Willstätt, in Weinheim in Grenzach-Wyhlen as well as the InfraRHOD industry park in Freiburg. In the industrial and chemical park in Freiburg for instance, small- and medium-sized companies in particular have the possibility to reduce their costs and increase their competitiveness by the shared use of infrastructure facilities as well as the short distances along the value added chain.
