trans-o-flex ThermoMed takes over Rhenus Life Sciences
On the 1st of July, trans-o-flex ThermoMed GmbH & Co. KG will take over Rhenus Life Sciences GmbH & Co. KG from the Rhenus Group.

On the 1st of July, trans-o-flex ThermoMed GmbH & Co. KG will take over Rhenus Life Sciences GmbH & Co. KG from the Rhenus Group. The two companies specialise in actively temperature-controlled transportation for the health care industry. They thus help to guarantee the quality of medicines and enable pharmaceutical companies to comply with the stricter legal requirements that are now applicable. The companies agreed to maintain silence on the price that is being paid.

"For us, the takeover means an expansion of capacity in a market of the future. What's more, in future we want to create a comprehensive network in order to cover the two temperature ranges from 2 to 8 degrees and from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, both of which are needed by the pharmaceutical industry", said Carsten Glos, CEO of trans-o-flex ThermoMed. Previously, ThermoMed had concentrated on the 2 to 8 degree area whereas the parent company trans-o-flex focused on combined freight solutions, the joint transport of packages and pallets in a network and non-actively temperature controlled solutions. "It has become apparent that active temperature control of consignments in the range between 15 and 25 degrees is very important for our customers", added Wolfgang Weber, CEO of trans-o-flex. "We therefore intend to substantially expand this service within the trans-o-flex Logistics Group, beginning with the takeover of Rhenus Life Sciences."
Besides this, the company feels that its approach up to now has been justified and has decided to continue on this path. What is important for the customers is that they are given a real all-round solution with which they can meet the requirements of the directive on the manufacture of medicines and active ingredients (AMWHV) in respect of temperature-sensitive products and, at the same time, have access to a network for their other consignments that do not require temperature control, continued Weber. "The trans-o-flex Logistics Group can meet these requirements from a single source", he concluded.
