When the Europa-Park was opened in 1975 the main focus was on fun rides which were manufactured by the founding family Mack itself. In the first season 250,000 visitors showed which success story was about to start in this region between France, Switzerland and Germany. Today, the Europa-Park is the second largest theme park in Europe. More than 3.55 million people have visited the park in 2002 – and this development is buoyant. It is the most popular destination in Baden-Württemberg and an important economic factor with 2500 employees. Each year more than 200 TV productions take place in the Europa-Park whose founder Roland Mack has been awarded with numerous prizes for his commitment in the region.
