As of 2008, the promotion of renewable energy sources in the heating market will be continued and will focus on certain selected aspects. Up to 350 million euros have been marked for the incentive project. This is considerably more than in preceding years. As part of the integrated energy and climate program of the federal government, the Federal Ministry of the Environment has issued a new promotion directive for the market incentive program. This directive is to be applicable for an unlimited period from 2008 onwards. From 2009 onwards, up to 500 million euros will be available for the program.
Solar collectors and biomass heating boilers will continue to be subsidised with investment grants. What is new about the future promotion scheme is a bonus system that can lead to considerably higher grants. Anyone who combines renewable energies with each other will be rewarded with a bonus. In future, efficient heat pumps for hot water preparation and heating in modernized buildings or in new buildings will be promoted with a grant.
