From Stuttgart to Siena, from Norway to Scotland, scientiests have gathered to hand in research applications for organic farming within in the scope of the CORE Organic (Coordination of European Transnational Research in Organic Food and Farming) EU project. 11 of the 38 project cooperations are supervised by a German institutions, another 16 contain German partners. For the research program, which is announced for the first time, 9 million euro are available in a period of three years.
Firstly, staff members of the Federal Program Organic Farming (Bundesprogramm Ökologischer Landbau, BÖL) research team evaluate the CORE Organic applications with a view to recent of planned research projects. Afterwards the applications are judged bei an independent international expert panel. The decision about which projects will be supported will be made by the CORE Organic Governing Board in March 2007. The projects will start in April / May 2007.
