Largely disposed and widely branched: grids are networks combining the performance of many computers. Apart from mere data transfer grids allow the common usage of resources like server- or memory capacity. In order to better distribute these resources and to allow their more efficient use, scientists of the Institute of Information Systems and Management (IISM) at Karlsruhe Univeristy establish an Open Grid Market - a virtual marketplace, where computer performance can be traded freely. Thus, they cooperate with twelve research institutions involved in the "Self-Organizing ICT Resource Management" (SORMA) project. The goal of SORMA is to establish a technologically and economically mature platform for the trade with grid resources.
