Under coordination of the Fraunhofer institute UMSICHT nine partners from five European countries have created the common European platform EUWAS (European waste sector assistant) for the waste management sector. Its goal is to enable the cross-national exchange of data, knowledge and experience. So far, facilities involved in "municipal waste management" (companies of the waste disposal sector and municipal adminstration institutions) have obtained information about European programs, as well as general and special data about waste from non-networked databases. Such research often requires a significant amount of time. EUWAS wants to offer information of existing databases and information systems in different tools from one source.
